Ozlem joined the Gerwick Lab as Post-Doctoral Researcher with a TUBITAK fellowship in October 2013.
During her PhD at Trakya University (Turkey) she performed collaboration studies with Professor Iqbal Choudhary at HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi in Pakistan. Her thesis includes isolation and structural characterization of phenolic natural products with immunosuppressive activity from Hypericum species. She completed her PhD 2005 and continued her research on anticancer marine natural products as a postdoctoral research fellow in Professor R. Quinn’s lab at Griffith University, Australia in 2008 and afterwards started to work as an Assistant Professor at Trakya Univeristy. The focus of her work is the isolation and structural elucidation of MAO, AChE and tyrosinase inhibitors from plants. Since joining the Gerwick laboratory as a visiting scholar in October 2013, she has focused on the discovery and structural characterization of structurally novel and biologically active compounds from marine cyanobacteria.
