Emily Trentacoste, Graduate Student
Emily originally hails from Washington, D.C. and received her BS in 2009 from Dartmouth College.Her PhD work focuses on elucidating and manipulating the pathway of lipid metabolism in microalgae, with an application to biofuels. Her thesis research has involved metabolic and genetic engineering of lipid metabolism in the model diatom Thalassiosira pseudonana to increase lipid production. Emily is hoping to transition into energy or ocean policy after her PhD. In her free time she can be found surfing, cooking, playing ukulele and boxing.
